TGC Academy ("TGC", "we", "us") runs physics and science tuition centres in Potong Pasir, Bukit Timah and Bishan, Singapore. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and how you can contact us about it. We handle personal data in line with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA).

What we collect

When you sign up for a trial lesson, register, join a crash course or practical session, submit results, or download a free resource from our website, we may collect:

  • Student details: name, gender, date of birth, mobile number, email, school, level, school programme, subjects, recent exam grades, and dietary needs.
  • Parent or guardian details: name, relationship to the student, mobile number, and address if different from the student's.
  • Address and preferences: residential address, postal code, preferred centre(s), how you heard about us, and any message you send us.
  • Payment details for paid sessions, such as invoice and payment status. We do not collect or store card numbers.
  • Messages you send us on WhatsApp, Telegram, email or Google reviews.

Why we use it

We use your personal data to:

  • arrange trial lessons, classes, crash courses and make-up lessons;
  • contact you or your parent or guardian about lessons, scheduling, fees and payments;
  • send you the resources you request, such as cheatsheets by email;
  • track progress and support learning, for enrolled students;
  • improve our lessons, website and services;
  • send you updates about our programmes, where you have agreed to receive them.

We only use your data for these purposes, or for others we tell you about and you agree to.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:

  • Our tutors and staff, who need it to teach and support you.
  • Service providers who help us run TGC, under appropriate safeguards. These include secure database and website hosting, email delivery, Google Workspace (for documents and invoices), and messaging platforms such as WhatsApp and Telegram, which we use to contact you and to notify our staff of new sign-ups.
  • Authorities, if the law requires it.

Some of these providers store data outside Singapore. Where they do, we take steps to make sure your data is protected to a standard comparable to the PDPA.

Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies, including Google Analytics and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, to understand how visitors use the site and to measure our advertising. These tools may collect information such as your device, browser, pages visited and approximate location. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser add-on.

How we protect and keep your data

We protect personal data with reasonable security measures, including access controls and secure, encrypted services. We keep personal data only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as required by law, and then delete or anonymise it.

Your choices

You can ask us to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • correct data that is wrong or incomplete;
  • withdraw consent for us to use your data, including for updates about our programmes. If you withdraw consent, we may no longer be able to provide some services, such as lessons, and we'll explain what that means before acting on it.

We'll respond to your request as soon as reasonably possible.
